As a model of a sustainable island, Ibiza has taken different measures in order to preserve the environment and its landscapes, an unquestionable value of this territory.
The protection of natural spaces and historical heritage as well as sustainable tourism are the fundamental measures for reducing territorial and environmental impact.
For this purpose, the Consell de Ibiza has promoted, along with environmental associations, a campaign that aims to reduce plastics and encourage people to shop at bulk stores. The institution seeks to recover the tradition of shopping with a basket, the traditional senalló, and leave behind the plastic bags. With these initiatives, the island of Ibiza wants to achieve a change in consumer habits towards more sustainable alternatives, through a way of buying which is more sustainable and more considerate with the environment.
