Shops and casual fashion

The commercial network is made up of small stores that adapt their items every year to the current trends. In the main villages, especially in Sant Francesc and in Es Pujols, visitors can get everything they need for their vacations. From beach items to clothing with a design that links with the spirit of the sixties but is adapted to new trends, without sacrificing comfort and originality. The blooming of fashion stores is one of the phenomena that has arisen in recent years.

All have a variety of styles and trends but only some have original designs that. in July of every year, are shown at the great event of the sector, the Formentera Fashion Show(La Pasarela de la Moda de Formentera). Here, a large group of local designers and jewellers show their creativity with uninhibited proposals. And we shouldn’t forget the markets with stalls selling handicrafts, clothes and jewellery that are set up in Sant Francesc, La Savina, Sant Ferran, Es Pujols and El Pilar de la Mola. But beyond fashion, there is also a wide offer of supermarkets and grocery stores in different towns.

The Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Commerce area of the Consell have given a clear commitment to promote small local commerce through the ‘Buy local’ campaign and its loyalty card. It is also true that except for a large supermarket, there is no franchise or hypermarket on the island. Local commerce provides closeness and its activity is a good example of the island’s economic health. In the Centro ‘Gabrielet’, in Sant Francesc, fans of zero kilometre products have the possibility of stocking up on products grown on the island. There are also several farms that offer their vegetables directly on the field.
